Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you take the captain’s chair.

About Ulysses32

What is Ulysses32?

Ulysses32 is a self-hosted AI crew orchestration platform. It gives you a Star Trek-inspired bridge interface to command multiple AI agents (your “crew”) working together on real tasks — content creation, coding, research, marketing, business automation, and more. Think of it as the captain’s chair for AI.

What is Ulysses32 NOT?

Ulysses32 is not an AI provider. We don’t create, train, or host any AI models. We provide the interface and orchestration layer. The actual AI intelligence comes from providers you choose — Claude, GPT-4, Gemini, Mistral, Ollama, and others. We are not responsible for what AI models generate, how they behave, or what they “know.” We build the bridge — you pick the engines.

What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is an open-source multi-agent AI framework. Ulysses32 is built on top of OpenClaw, adding a proprietary user interface, orchestration tools, crew management, the Ship Forge, Tactical Armoury, and the full starship experience. OpenClaw is the engine room — Ulysses32 is the entire ship.

Is Ulysses32 a SaaS / cloud service?

No. Ulysses32 is self-hosted software that runs on your own hardware — your PC, your server, your Docker instance. There are no monthly fees, no cloud dependency, and no data leaving your machine. You own the installation completely.

What AI providers does it support?

Ulysses32 supports all major LLM providers: Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT-4/GPT-4o, Google Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek, and local models via Ollama. You bring your own API keys — we never see them, store them, or touch them.

Do I need technical skills to use it?

Basic comfort with Docker and running commands in a terminal is recommended for installation. Once installed, the interface is designed to be intuitive — you interact with your crew through conversation, not code. However, understanding what AI can and cannot do is essential. See our AI Transparency page.

Purchase & Updates

What does the €99 purchase include?

A one-time payment of €99 gives you:
  • A perpetual licence to use Ulysses32 — yours forever.
  • One year of free updates from the date of purchase.
  • All current features: AI crew members, Ship Forge, Tactical Armoury, 50+ integrations, ElevenLabs voice support, and more.
  • Self-hosted Docker deployment.

What happens after the first year?

After your first year, the software continues to work indefinitely. You keep everything you have — nothing is taken away or disabled. However, access to new updates and features beyond the first year may require an optional renewal. Details of renewal pricing will be communicated before your update period expires. You are never forced to renew — your existing version works forever.

Can I request features or updates?

Absolutely — we welcome feature requests and feedback. However, feature requests are not guaranteed. We will consider all suggestions but are under no obligation to implement any specific feature or update. Our development roadmap is guided by the needs of the community, technical feasibility, and our own vision for the product.

What is the refund policy?

We offer a 7-day discretionary refund period. If the Software genuinely doesn’t meet your needs within the first 7 days, contact us and we’ll work with you. After 7 days, all sales are final. See our Refund Policy for full details.

Is there a free trial?

There is no free trial at this time. However, OpenClaw (the open-source engine) is freely available if you want to explore the underlying framework before purchasing Ulysses32.

Safety, Responsibility & Fair Use

Is my data safe?

Ulysses32 is self-hosted — all data stays on your machine. We collect zero telemetry, zero analytics, and have zero access to your installation. Your API keys, conversations, configurations, and generated content never touch our servers. See our Privacy Policy.

Can AI crew members go rogue or cause damage?

AI behaviour is inherently unpredictable. Models can misinterpret instructions, hallucinate information, or take unintended actions through integrations. This is why we strongly recommend running Ulysses32 in a sandboxed environment (Docker container or VM) with minimal permissions. If you run it outside a sandbox, you accept full responsibility. See our Terms of Service (Section 7) for installation recommendations.

Am I responsible for what my AI crew generates?

Yes, entirely. You are the captain. You choose the AI providers, design the crew, give the instructions, and control the integrations. We are a user interface — not an AI provider, not a content moderator, and not responsible for outputs. You must review all AI outputs before publishing or acting on them. AI crew members are software simulations — not employees, agents, or advisors. Their outputs do not constitute professional advice of any kind.

What should I NOT use Ulysses32 for?

Do not use Ulysses32 to:
  • Generate illegal, harmful, or deceptive content.
  • Make critical decisions (medical, legal, financial, safety) without independent professional verification.
  • Circumvent AI provider terms of service or safety measures.
  • Impersonate real individuals without their consent.
  • Generate CSAM or content exploiting minors.
  • Develop weapons or facilitate violence.
See our full Acceptable Use policy (Section 16).

What happens if an AI provider changes their API or shuts down?

Ulysses32 supports multiple AI providers. If one provider changes pricing, alters their API, or ceases operations, you can switch to another supported provider. We make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility but cannot guarantee third-party service availability. This is not grounds for a refund.
